1Tac HL1200 Tactical Headlamp

The 1Tac Military Headlamp is a tactical style headlamp designed to provide the ultimate hands-free lighting for any situation. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a prepper, a hunter, or just want a durable & powerful light in case of an emergency, the HL1200 tactical headlamp is the perfect solution to any and all of your lighting needs.

1TAC HL1200 Features & Specs

We got our hands on an HL1200 from 1TAC and were pleasantly surprised to find it was comfortable, easily adjustable, and was actually intensely bright. We tested out many of the features of the HL1200, which include:

  • 3-way adjustable headband for support & comfort
  • Ultra bright CREE XL-L2 bulb
  • 3 different modes based on your needs (strobe, high, medium)
  • Adjustable bulb that can bend to a 90 degree angle
  • Zoom capability (up to 2000 meters)

According to the official website, the headlamp weighs 6.35oz (little less than half a pound), has a rechargeable battery, is made of aircraft grade aluminum, and has a lamp life of 100,000 hours. This is far longer than our previous favorite headlamp – the TL900 from Primitive Survivors.

HL1200 Functionality

We put the HL1200 to the test and were pleasantly surprised how well it performed. On a hunting trip, the HL1200 was far superior to any of the other headlamps we tested. The zoom capability was great for seeing what was up ahead on the trail and we only needed the medium setting, which was more than enough lighting.

The ability to angle the light also came in handy, especially when hiking up a steep mountain. This headlamp could certainly be useful for those that like extreme climbing or hiking.

As for the comfort of the HL1200, it was actually better than the average headlamp. It was snug on my head, but not too tight to the point where it became uncomfortable. While hiking, I sort of forgot I was even wearing to be quite honest. If you’re hesitant to try it because of comfort, don’t be because you won’t find a more comfortable headlamp.

  1. Hi, Was this HL 1200 headlamp waterproof or just water resistant? Trying to decide between the HL1200 or the TL900 in which you had articles reviews on both of them.

    • Hi Rich,

The HL1200 is water resistant, not waterproof. The TL900 would be the better option if water resistance is a primary concern of yours.
